Conduct
House shows and other events are possible because someone has put their property up to be used as such. There are some rules in place to make sure that we can continue to do this.
- Respect the space! Trash and cigarette butts should be thrown in the black trashcan outside. This isn't just an event space, it's a nature sanctuary.
- This is a private residence, so when going inside, stick to the 1F bathroom. Do not wander the house.
- Do not destroy things. Every bit of damage is something someone has to fix and/or pay to fix.
- Our neighbors are kind and allow us to host loud events. Regardless of who they are, please treat them and their property with respect. Community is paramount.
- If there's a mosh and someone falls, help them up. If someone gets hit, check them out. If someone is panicking, bring them somewhere safe and quiet. If someone is being a racist, transphobe, etc., boot them out. You know the drill.
- Noise ordinance says 10pm. Unless we move to the basement, please clear out, respect peoples properties, and be safe driving back to your spot.
- Carpooling is recommended. There is some parking at the zion church down the road. It's a little bit of a walk but not too bad. There are some other spots as well but we don't know where the cops frequent on their patrols. A few people can park in front of the house unless it's winter, in which case you risk getting a ticket.
- If there is ever any drama, accusations raised, etc., bring it up with the staff and/or property owner. No one should blow up the spot by leveling accusations in group chats, socials, at an event, etc. Bring it up with the relevant parties privately so that it can be hashed out. Unfortunately, the quote unquote left loves to devour itself and needs no help from the feds in dismantling its own efforts. We should be clear-eyed and mature when drama comes up. This is the kind of stuff that will shut down a venue. If a person(s) causes unsubstantiated drama they will be asked to leave and barred from the venue.
- Under no circumstances should you ever post info, photos, or videos of an event, of the venue, of the property, etc. on social media or pretty much anywhere online. We are tired of feeding the corporate algorithm. We are tired of giving data to the corpos so they can wreck our privacy and profit off of us. When you come to an event, be present. Enjoy the actual event. Typically there will be a photographer at the event anyway so there will be photos and vids. This is done on a digital camera, not on a smartphone that stores photos and vids on Google cloud storage. When the photographer puts the content up on socials, it's one point of data collection, not a crowd of data points. Honestly, if you can leave your phone in the car that's optimal. If you have to be on the property with a "smart"phone (corpo-phone), Graphene OS is the way to go.
- Tabling is encouraged. If you wanna table, let us know what you wanna put out so we can coordinate.
- If cops show up, direct them to one of the staff. Questions should never be answered and no personal info should ever be given out, yours or anyone else's. Do not tell them who the property owner is, who lives on the property, etc. If they come onto the property you're free to ask them to get off of private property and to wait on the street. Someone will come talk to them. It's best to be cordial so you don't draw unnecessary attention to yourself or the property.
I think that's it. This may occasionally get updated. If you're bringing people with you, please also have them read this. Thanks.
